This is a 1/14 scale model of a scania r470 built from a tamiya kit. it is fully radio control, quite a little piece of enginering, it has a working 3 speed gearbox and it will have working lights..... though i havent fitted these yet.
the trailer is also a tamiya kit, it stands about 90cm long! it is made of mostly aluminium, with a wooden load bed.
for a model it is suprisingly powerful, it will pull a 20kg load up a hill, though its not recomended for too long!!
this is the tamiya kit of the ford aeromax, american tractor truck. it is bigger than the scania and has the twin back axels. in the pictures about it is as far as i have built so-far. the basics are complete and it is painted in undercoat. the top coat paint will be a dark red. there are still a few chrome bits to add to brighten it up.
here are the 2 trailers i have for the trucks. one is a flatbed and the other a pole trailer. the flat bed is shorter, with a wooden bed for carrying loads. this is the oe the cat likes to ride on.
the pole trailer is abit diffrent. it is extendable to 3 diffrent lengths. it is used to carry loads like pipes and logs. in the photo below the pole trailer in in its middle setting, about 75 cm long.
well this is my third truck. another european style tractor unit. this is the first of the 3 that i have done in the box art colours. i thought it looked good in silver so i stuck with it. i painted the frame/leaf-springs and mudgaurds n bits in black and i painted the gearbox, fueltank and air cylinders in flat silver.
the wheels are not from the box. i have put a set of machined aluminium wheels on it.
